Mk II Dobsonian 16" altitude bearings

Altitude bearings

The altitude bearings are certainly massive, partly because the balance point of the telescope turned out to be 85mm above the top of the mirror box. This means that the friction force is a bit higher (not necessarily a bad thing) and the bearing velocity is higher (probably a good thing). I'll cut them down considerably when I'm happy with the positioning of the teflon pads and I've decided how low I want the telescope to point. These pads are double the size required for 15 psi. I find 7-8 psi works better with my materials.
