Balls at edges
Red is striking ball and is for hoop 1. The objective is to set up a four ball break.
Red middle of S boundary. Easy shots. 3 bisques
Turn 1. Shoot red at yellow. Miss. Take 1st bisque
Turn 2. Croquet yellow to hoop 1 pioneer. Shoot at black. Miss. Take 2nd bisque
Turn 3. Croquet black to hoop 2 pioneer. Shoot at blue. Miss. Take 3rd bisque
Turn 4. Croquet blue to pivot. Tidy black. Take off to yellow. Start break
Oxford croquet's methods.
These need 2 bisques, but involve more difficult or risky shots
Red middle of S boundary. Oxford method 1. 2 bisques
Turn 1. Shoot red at yellow. Miss. Take 1st bisque
Turn 2a. Roquet yellow and take off to blue. Roquet blue and croquet it to hoop 1 pioneer. Roquet black
Turn 2b. Croquet black to hoop 2 pioneer. Send red off behind yellow. Take 2nd bisque
Turn 3. Rush yellow to pivot. Take off to blue to start break
This is Oxford Croquet's first solution. See
Using bisques, problem 1, an initial solution.
Although this uses one less bisque it involves a tricky roll shot in turn 2,
the croquet of blue to hoop 1, which could easily go wrong in several ways.
Red middle of S boundary. Oxford method 2. 2 bisques
Turn 1. Shoot red south of yellow. Take 1st bisque
Turn 2a. Rush yellow NE of hoop 3. Croquet yellow to hoop 2 pioneer. Roquet blue
Turn 2b. Croquet blue to hoop 1 pioneer. Send red off S of black. Take 2nd bisque
Turn 3. Rush black W of yellow. Croquet black to pivot. Tidy yellow and start break
This is Oxford Croquet's second solution. See
Using bisques, problem 1, a second solution.
The rush shots in turn 2 and 3 are quite tricky and rely on good positioning of the balls.
They may be less problematic than the roll shot in turn 2 of the first method.
Red middle of E boundary. Oxford method. 2 bisques
Turn 1. Shoot red at blue. Take 1st bisque
Turn 2a. Croquet blue to hoop 1 pioneer. Leave red near black. Roquet black
Turn 2b. Croquet black to hoop 2 pioneer. Shoot red at yellow. Take 2nd bisque
Turn 3. Croquet yellow to pivot and start break
This is Oxford Croquet's solution. See
Using bisques, problem 2.
