Croquet openings, high handicap vs. low handicap
R&Y are high handicap with a lot of bisques. B&K are low handicap, and probably good shots
General
- R&Y in first. B&K must not have a chance of a 4 ball break with their second ball
- R&Y in second. B&K must not have a chance of a 3 ball break with their second ball
- E boundary is safer at the start than W when B&K are both for hoop 1
R&Y in first
1: R to E bndry between H4 and peg
2: B to W bndry anywhere S of peg. I think you've got to move B
3: Y at B gently. Take 1st bisque if necc. Move B N of peg. Finish in cnr IV
Turn 4. Black shoots at red. Misses to corner IV
Turn 5. Red shoots at black. Misses. Takes 2nd bisque
Red croquets black to hoop 1 pioneer. Shoots at blue. Misses. Takes 3rd bisque
Croquet blue to hoop 2 pioneer. Shoot at yellow. Miss. Take 4th bisque
Croquet yellow to pivot. Tidy blue. Start break
Yellow must move blue in turn 2, otherwise black will hit in in turn 3 and go round with 3 balls.
A bisque will be needed unless the tice is very short.
If black hits in in turn 3 they have some difficult shots to start a 3-ball break.
