Hole in N fence made according to this recipe.
Summer jasmin regrown
The summer jasmine which I pruned so heavily in July has recovered better than I would have thought possible, but will it ever flower?
Montana pruned at front
I had a really good go at the clematis montana at the front. Perhaps too good. We’ll see.
Albertine & Montana
The clematis Montana and rosa Albertine stand out from the fence rather too much, inhibiting the plants underneath. There’s another piece of rope holding things back, and I’ll keep an eye on things.
Looking good today
The melianthus major went in last October and made a very slow start, but now it looks fine.
The lysimachia is a thug, but easy to control, and very attractive.
There’s another gladiolus ‘Plum tart’ in a pot at the front. Not so far out. They’re overwintered in their pots by the compost heap.
This is the third year the edelweiss has flowered in its pot, which it shares with Tulipa ‘Golden Apeldoorn’.
This is the second year the cirsium have flowered. Success.
The day lily is my favourite of the three I’ve got. The others are a plain bright yellow, and a pink.
Solanum down again
Last night half the solanum in the NE corner blew down in a not particularly strong wind. This is a more or less annual occurrence. I must keep it more in trim. The fences are hideous,.
F1 looking good
New route to astro platform
Now the big telescope has been brought into the house (from the garage), this is its route to the platform.
The frilly ox-eye daisies by the catmint are disappearing, for some reason.
Asiatic lilies in pots
This is the third year they’ve flowered after being overwintered in their pots by the compost heap. They’re fed with tomato fertiliser every week. The white one, in particular, is superb. The lily beetle I saw earlier seems to have gone away.
Pots on astro platform
While there’s not much astronomy happening (it’s still not dark at 11pm) there’s space for a few pots on the astronomy platform.
